Original Timber Co.

I built Original Timber around a simple, forward-looking idea: fallen and removed Bay Area trees could become lasting design material. We sourced hardwood close to home, within 50 miles of our Oakland workshop, and carried it through every stage of the work: selecting and milling each slab, designing the piece, fabricating wood and steel, and finishing it by hand.

The wood's grain, natural edges and past remained visible, set against clear, contemporary forms. Tables and case goods grew into custom flooring and complete restaurant and living spaces, including work for Saison. The aim was always more than reuse: make something exceptionally well, and make it worth keeping for generations.
